The founder, Ken Crowley, began his career as an apprentice with Grignano Company in 1967. In 1969, Ken was drafted into the United States Army, where he served until 1971. When Ken returned, he worked as a bricklayer for Grignano and Monona Masonry until 1978. In May of 1978, Ken, his wife, Linda, and a crew of three began Crowley Masonry, Inc. (CMI). The company started out doing residential and small commercial jobs. Ken would work in the field all day and estimate plans all night. Linda worked full-time as an office manager and did all the bookkeeping for CMI after hours, all while raising two young children.
